Seth Weide
I feel privileged and humbled to have the opportunity to serve as a vicar this coming year at Our Savior Lutheran in San Antonio. I grew up in New Berlin, a near suburb of Milwaukee, WI. I graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran High School in Milwaukee, WI in 2015 and Martin Luther College in 2019. After finishing my undergraduate degree I did not know if I wanted to enter the seminary. I taught in the French public school system for multiple years and as a literature teacher in Miami. I did in the end enter Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary two years ago to become a pastor as it was on my heart. I am glad I did and am loving it.
As for personality I enjoy architecture, art, intellectual thought, culture, working out, philosophy, and quality time with friends. Also, I am learning the piano as an adult and that has been a small delight for me.
I did travel and work abroad significantly in my early twenties and I am very curious about how other people think. In undergrad I graduated early and lived a year in Lima, Perú teaching English. I also lived a significant amount of time in Buenos Aires, Montréal, Tel-Aviv, New Delhi, Miami, Berlin, Lille, and Paris. I am quite interested in foreign languages and my greatest command is of French, Spanish, German, and Portuguese.
I am very excited to be a part of this congregation and I have been praying for a moment and a people to serve such as this!
A verse of Scripture close to my heart is Isaiah 40:8: “The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.”
